Potential Customers LJ Lost

If you use a FREE LiveJournal account, it doesn’t mean that your voice doesn’t count.

If you were unhappy and dissatisfied with the way in which the Strikethrough- and the Boldout-related incidents were handled by 6A/LJ, and decided not to spend your money on their products and services, make it known.

Make it noticed.

1. How long have you been with LJ? My old journal dates back nearly four years.

2. Have you ever thought of getting a paid/permanent account? What prevented you from doing it in the past? I actually DID have a paid account on my old journal, and chose not to renew as I had less time for the internet, and did not feel the need to pay for something I would not use.

3. Why did you decide not to become a paid member now? (What is your biggest complaint?) To me, it's the double punch of "we don't want fandom porn" / "anorexia, Nazis, and hitting children is a-ok". I was actually reconsidering purchasing a paid account, as I am getting more and more active in fandom, and that's what tends to define how often I use the internet; as an active member of fandom, I'll end up wanting to pay for a service I use frequently. To have fandom smacked around like that - and then to see them DEFENDING pro-anorexia sites - is a slap in the face. Without getting too tl;dr, I'll just put it this way: fandom has yet, to anyone's awareness, to harm or kill a real child. Anorexia causes permanent injury and death to many. I'm not willing to support that.

4. What can 6A/LJ do to win you back? Either defend ALL of their TOS, or none of it. If they want to crack down on porn, that is their prerogative, and I won't argue with it, but they need to crack down on everything else they claim not to support. They also need to issue apologies from the company at large, from coffeechica for her pro-anorexia statements (in an official context), and burr86 for his rude behavior.

5. Are you going to stay with LJ as a free member, or are you going to migrate to another blogging website? I plan to move to another website once I've finished some fic fests and wrapped up loose ends.
