The Bestest of Presents

Dec 28, 2007 00:16

It's been an exhausting evening - but one that ended in the best possible way.

It's been really a wintery stormy sort of day up here, and early on Boxing Day we got a surprise call from my younger sister that she was going to come to BC (from northern Alberta) for part of the Christmas holidays, after all.  Quite the unexpected thing this year!  She ( Read more... )

Happy birthday, Pax! I'm going to post a birthday fic for you soon, but I'll mail you a copy too if you don't have a chance to check LJ...

I'm so glad your sister got in safely! You must have been very stressed...

There's no "scary deadline" for the WFGE! If it's not in by the 31st you...lose the chance to have a meaningless banner! Oh noes! Okay, if it's not in by mid-Jan. it probably won't be in the ebook, but you still have a fair amount of leeway there. So relax, don't stress over that, and enjoy writing and your birthday and your family! *hugs*

*sniffles* I still can't believe you wrote me a birthday story! And managed to keep so quiet about it too! I'm very touched and very honoured, my dear friend. *hugs* And it's sizzlingly awesome too!

Thank you for your birthday wishes! It's lovely to be thought of on this kind of day, and thank you also for your reassurances about dreadful deadlines that I'm having difficulty in meeting! (especially at this time of year.) I'm not giving up, and maybe some miracle of time and spurt of energy and speed will suddenly occur! (hoping!) I don't want to lose out a 'meaningless' banner if I can help it! (er, WHAT banner are we talking about???)

Thank you very much again, pal o' mine - I really appreciate it!

Pax, Birthday Wolf ;-)

Heh, DaMo's planning on making a few banners for people who contribute--for most stories written, longest story, best of different genres, etc....the goal being that everyone who contributed something gets a banner of some sort. :) So...they'll be a variety of types, but mostly a "thanks for participating" when it all comes down to it.

Ah, that explains it! Thanks!

And thank you again for the email and the lovely birthday wishes, and for the cool story too! *hugs*

Hope your Florida visit goes really well - and I'm sure I'll be talking to you as soon as I get some more rare time (I'm here at my sister's, and I'm lucky to have been given some few moments on her computer here - and I must WRITE! How frustrated I'm feeling at the lack of sleep and the lack of time!) It is good to be together here, at very least. :-)

Thanks! The Banner sounds cool and I'll do my best to finish in time.

Wow, that's very sweet of you to take time to wish me such a nice thing! And what a cool and appropriate icon!

Thank you very much, Beta, and I wish you a great rest of your holidays too! (should you be lucky enough to have them, that is!) Thanks! :-)

You're most welcome. I wish all my friends happy birthday when I can, and since you wouldn't see your wishes in an update, I thought I'd do it here. *g*

That's my Happy Birthday icon. =>}

Well, my J. is a retired man as of Jan. 1st and since he still gets his two weeks of holidays over Christmas and New Years, this pretty much means I'm mostly on holiday for the rest of our lives. *bg*

Thanks for the wishes!

Awww. Thanks! And I also love your New Year's Icon! Neat!

And I'm finding I'm insanely jealous of your 'extended holiday', (I'm so exhausted and time-crunched!) and look forward to my own retirement - some day far, too far, in the future. Have an enjoyable time with your J.!

And Happy New Year, and Thank YOU! :-)

I'm so glad your sister made it to you, Kal! And happy birthday! Having our loved ones safe and around is a great gift, we really should never overlook it.

Hope your birthday goes great! *huugs*

And you're not the only one running a little late with the WFGE, so don't you panic! :P we're all doing what we can to finish.. improbable as that is :P

Oh, Mina, thank you so very much! How lovely to get such a lovely birthday message from you. :-)

And yes, you're so right: loved ones near really is the greatest gift, and I really count my blessings on the too-rare occasions we manage to get together. And the birthday was a quiet little affair, going out to a dinner, and opening a couple gifts later with a drink, just the family here at my sister's. None of us were feeling very well, but it was a merry evening nonetheless. ;-)

Thanks too for the reassurance not to panic with the WFGE! (and I'm so glad I only claimed one, and a short simple (but hopefully sweet) one at that. :-)

Thank you! ^_^

Thank you so much, Brady! I appreciate the birthday sentiments!

And just to let you know, I plan on continuing the Epic ("Necessary Force") after the WFGE is completed in the New Year, if that interests you at all!

Hope your own writing is going well. (Me, I'm panicking a little - running out of time on two deadlines! EEK! And it's so frustrating when RL demands get in the way, hmm?)

Thanks again! :-)

Of course! :) You've set things up so well. I'm really nervous about what's going to happen to Clark while undercover and how Bruce will react when inevitably, something goes wrong! ;)

I might have to cut back on writing for Challenges next year, but not on issuing them! ;)

Oh, I SO know what you mean. (sigh) It's been really silly of me to try and meet my own commitments, and therefore led to a bit of stress (entirely my own fault) this holiday. I hope I'll be more intelligent about it next year!

what's going to happen to Clark while undercover and how Bruce will react when inevitably, something goes wrong!

*grins* It's that obvious an eventuality, is it? (bwah-ha-ha - oh, I'm so evil ...)

*glomps* Happy birthday, Pax!!! It's hard adding yet another candle to that ol' birthday cake, huh? ;) (*just turned a year older not too long ago too...* *sigh*)

I'm so glad your sister made it fine through the storm! It's warm and clear here in Florida, so I'm always worried about my flist across the states and around the world about how they're fairing the weather in their area. :\

I hope your birthday is happy and merry and wonderful!

Thank you VERY much, Tina! I'm so happy to get this message from you. Truly. I also really welcome the birthday sentiments! Yay!

Yes, indeed, it sometimes gets really hard to 'add a candle to the ol' birthday cake', as you so cutely put it. (and that "ole" is getting more so all the time! I thought life was supposed to get easier as one aged?? huh?)

I'm also very grateful my sister made it through the storm, and that we ourselves made it over bad highways to get to my twin sister's yesterday afternoon/evening. These kind of things put life into perspective!

This Christmas has been a pretty lean one for all of my family this year (we're not too big a family, nor exactly flush with cash, I'm afraid) so each little physical present and especially the emotional ones are treasured that much more greatly. I feel very blessed indeed. :-)

Love your motion icon, btw! Cool.

Thank you so very much! *hugs warmly*

Pax, Birthday Wolf :-)
