OK, don't hate me for this, in defense of the man who was initially charges with 32 counts of "child pornography" I could probably receive the same charge. I probably have some of the same pictures on my computer. The pictures he was taken in for weren't what I would call porn, they were nudes. Naked baby pictures, prepubescent girls pretending to be nymphs; they're pretty and cute. It was never mentioned that any of the pictures displayed anything more than exposed chests (no sex, no flamboyant display of the genitals, nothing that could be considered abuse of the subjects) and no history of sexual behavior towards minors was mentioned either. I know several people who happen to have a fondness for the aesthetics of the innocent, androgynous prepubescent form that has nothing to do with sex or pornography. Now, maybe there's more to the story that I don't know but from what I read I wouldn't label the man a pedophile in any way shape or form. I'm just urging caution as that is a very dangerous and harmful label to slap onto someone, especially if they don't deserve it. And maybe the guy DOES like kids, would you rather have him dream over some non-abusive nudes or funnel money into hard-core child-abuse kiddie-porn, or worse, actually go out and abuse some child?
Just some food for thought, you know I always have to play the other side.
It doesn't mention it in the article, but in the story I saw on television, the man had admitted to having child pornography. Also, a portion of the article states, But Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Hope Okerlund-Matchan says one of the pictures on Seten's disc was of a 16-year-old South American girl posing nude, exposing her breasts. And that particular photo is known to be child pornography by prosecutors and the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to their website, the Center for Missing and Exploited children defines child pornography as "a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct."
