Americans, why so stupid?

Japan crisis causes run on anti-radiation pills in U.S.

Really? REALLY? What makes you think this is a good idea? Even IF the events at Fukushima go far enough south that there is a massive radiation release and it happens to hit the jet stream, we'll have LOTS of warning on this side of the Pacific.

Why the hell are you taking supplies that would better be served going to Japan? Selfish jerks. I hope you all tank your own Thyroids with your own stupidity and paranoia.

If you want to HELP over there, honestly help and not just shiver in fear over the idea of fallout from the safety of a WHOLE ENTIRE FREAKING OCEAN AWAY, then get off your butt and send some money to the American Red Cross. Mark it for earthquake/tsunami relief in Japan.

They will get it to the Japanese Red Cross - who is by far the best positioned and prepared aid organization right now to get the help the people of northeastern Japan so desperately need -- food and clean water, heating oil and blankets to keep them from freezing to death in winter weather -- but they need cash for fuel and transportation to actually get the goods and the aid workers to the people who need them most.

A disproportionate number of the people affected by the earthquake/tsunami are elderly as well. They need warmth and medical care most urgently.

Give if you can. Give anything. Any little bit helps. Give and forget your own fears.
