It has been just over to months since I moved over to London for my PhD. :) It has been a really fun experience so far, moving to an absolutely new environment, away from the safe confines of NUS.
Whilst everything else has been going swimmingly (Including tickets for the Katherine Jenkins concert, the Kings College Choir Christmas Concert, and the Royal Choral Society Christmas concert), the weather has been really wreaking havok over here. The only times i have braved the cold have been to rush to school and get back before sundown (when things get really chilly), or to wake up and wrap myself up to hit the gym.
There are a few things to be absolutely grateful for in being in London: I don't need to drive, so that removes the stress of being behind the wheel. I walk a whole lot, and that means walking from Leicester Square up to Regents Street, taking a left at Oxford Circus, walking down Oxford Street, past Marble Arch, onto Bayswater and then turning right to get onto Queensway, and walking home. That's a great stroll and its wonderful cos people here aren't as pushy as back home. and besides, in this cold weather, everyone is walking like a penguin. the fear of slipping and falling makes us all wary about walking too quickly. :)
I miss home lots, both my family and friends, but I especially miss the food. Found a place which serves decent Singaporean Char Kway Teow, Prawn Mee and Curry Laksa. Its called Hare and Tortoise, and thankfully there is an outlet just at Russell Square which is only a short ride on the train. :)
So to all my friends and family back in Singapore or wherever you are, my love to you from blisteringly cold London. Be assured that you are always in my thoughts, prayers and the oft-occuring times when my stomach groans for food.
