Many people on the island had rather unusual states of mind. While these could be entirely standard or aquired, permanent or temporary, it was hardly something unusual.
And then there was Ace. She didn't even know what to do with herself after her conversation with Jack, and 'Let's agree not to speak of this' didn't particularly seem to be a good solution. It was the only thing that could even kind of work, but it wouldn't work. She knew that already. The major problem was that she didn't know what to do in it's place. She didn't know what she should be looking for, or doing, or.... Whatever else.
She was already trying to move on, was slowly getting more friends and more of a life and that was what she needed to have. She knew that.
But she still didn't know what to do- and even if she was proud, she still wanted to see Ianto. She wasn't going to actually bother him- it's actually been weeks since she'd sought him out. Every time they'd seen each other was happenstance or his birthday party, or whatnot. She chewed on her lip, trying to descide if she'd interrupt him, and ended up leaning against his doorway, her voice quiet. "Ianto?"
