my mom just asked if i was learning farsi for any "underhanded reasons." when pressed, she confirmed she was referring to "irani terrorists." cool stereotype, mom!
hah, i like it. people of all different religions or no religion at all speak farsi, still, of-course i mean, farsi (or parsi) is mainly a persian dialect, which in turn brings more confusion to the table seeing as the whole terrorist stereotype deal applies mainly to iraqi muslims, furthermore, as you said, it is a stereotype. what i am trying to convey, is that your mom is not only stereotyping, but doing so somewhat incorrectly...there are many persian jews, hindus, zoroastrians and christians that all were raised in farsi speaking house-holds. also, to top that off, i love muslims. so, in conclusion, i am angry at your mom. grrr! yes.
I think Islam is stupid. Same for Christianity and all religions. Also, it's possible to be a farsi speaking Jewish or Christian or Islamic terrorist in Iran.

mm i think the irani terrorist thing is a bit old fashioned, left over from the hostage situation and currently resurrected a bit because of all the talk of nuclear shite. nonetheless, i agree that what my mother said is ridiculous, incorrect, utterly offensive, etc.
