My quest for perfect skinny jeans

Mar 04, 2008 02:24

Last week end was a blast. I'm so so happy!

Saturday

Went shopping-got 1 grey jeans and 2 tops.( from Gap and Topshop respectively)
I was really looking forward to shopping at the newly renovated H&M but was so disappointed. New H&M collection doesn't look nice at all (very vivid colours are not my style---all neon yellow, green, blue and shocking pink---they give me migraine just  by looking at them) and the newly renovated store has less stuffs than the old one....  But all in all, I'm happy. I've been searching for good grey skinny jeans for so long but most of the highstreet brands don't have my size. Topshop does but the proportion of the 'petite' jeans is a bit off. for size 6 petite skinny jeans, the length is fine and fit well but too big a waist! Plus bum looks bad in them...don't know why.... Other brands' quality is not up to my standard....

When it comes to jeans,  Gap, Diesel and Seven are always my best bets since they do smaller sizes than usual highstreet stores.

Pros
- Diesel makes really good skinny jeans which fit my small bum perfectly, loads of size and style to choose from, make smaller sizes (smaller Waist  and shorter length ) for petite girls (yeah!)
- Seven for all Mankind jeans fit like magic. Very good quality. Seven jeans make me looks like I have nice bum which doesn't exist in reality.
-Miss Sixty : small sizes in abundance, loads of style and colours.  Kinder to the wallet than the top 2 but still quite expensive compared to highstreet jeans.
- Gap jeans are a lot cheaper than the first 2 brands and the quality is not compromised, either. load of style, size and colours to choose from.  ( I'm size 6 UK or size 0 US and Gap always has the size in abundance--unlike other brands which do the size but in small quantity hence out-of-stock problem.

Cons
-Diesel : expensive --can go up to 130 pounds a pair.... not many stores stock enough of size 24/25. This lead to problem of re-order and long wait.
- Seven : as expensive as Diesel. Not widely available in the UK. Have to go to more high-end department stores like Selfridges or Harvey Nics to get hold of one.  Style are usually more conservative than Diesel--loads of straight leg and bootcut but not many skinnies.
- Miss Sixty : most of the styles are very tacky!!! Plain jeans please-- stop adding patchworks, laces, rope, buttons to your jeans! They make the jeans look cheap when actually they are not.
- Gap : despite making size 0 ( W24), they don't have shorter length for the size. This was so frustrating! I need W24 and Length 30. Gap only makes W24 L32.---But they don't do W26 L30. Why???? They only make size 0 for models or what?? Well, not all small waisted girls have long legs, y'know!

I've been trying to look further than these 4 brands to no avail. I always end up annoyed, frustrated and eventually buy from my fav. 3 brands anyway.  Guess my standard is too high for my own good. I think I'm fated to be poor because of  my quest  for perfect jeans.

Why oh why does John Anthony's stop stocking women range???? Now where can I get my D&G, Moschino, D-Squared and Vivien Westwood fix in Bristol??? I'm soooooo doomed!!!! ---Well, I still have NET-A-PORTER...but sometimes I wanna try on the clothes you know!

PS. Nan was lucky, too. She's got 2 tops from H&M which look so cute.....But why did I end up getting more than her when it was her idea to go shopping and I was only to accompany her? Emm......

ranting, welcome to my world, shopping
