Monday, Day 6: Sight seeing around Vancouver! Outing to Simon Frasure University (Tolan homeworld), Horizon’s Restaurant (O’Mally’s from the episode "Upgrades"), and Stanley Park.
Breakfast at Tim Horton’s again. Jynjyr joined me for breakfast this morning. We took it to go. When we got to the lobby and I’d unwrapped my breakfast, I discovered I’d gotten a cinnamon raisin bagel instead of blueberry! Oh, well! It was still good!
On our outing this morning were myself, Atlantia, Nic, Nicky, Jynjyr, strivaria, and Sue. We walked down a block to catch the skytrain, then got off to catch a bus up to Simon Frasure University, the location spot for the Tolan homeworld.

After wandering around, we took the Burnaby Mountain Path which would take us to Horizon’s Restaurant (O’Mally’s from the episode Upgrades). I love being outside and going for walks and I love trees. I had a bit of a tree fetish on this day. ;)

^ comical sign. Of course, one would have to climb over the fence to fall off the cliff first. ;)
At the end of the trail is the Burnaby Mountain Park with Horizon's Restraraunt and the Playground of the Gods.

Food!
I had a bowl of vegetable chowder, a chicken sandwich and 5 of us split the pumpkin cheesecake for desert.
After lunch, we wandered down the road that would take us down the mountain to the main road to the bus stop (about 10 minute leisurely stroll). Our navigator had us get off one stop too early so we got to see some Vancouver neighborhoods on our walk to the SkyTrain station. Back on the SkyTrain, our route took us by Bridge Studios, but didn't see anyone.
When we reached our stop, we saw some lovely cherry trees in full bloom!
At this point, we said our goodbyes to Strivaria who needed to catch her flight home later in the evening.
Then we got back on to the bus to get to Stanley Park. We had about two hours in the park - I could have spent all day there! :D

By now it was going on 6:30 pm and there were plans to catch up with Starbird back at the hotel for dinner. We decided to order pizza and eat in Atlantia's room. We caught the bus back to the SkyTrain (which is faster than the bus, I'm told). Atlantia, Jynjyr and I went to the grocery store across the street to pick up plates, napkins and soda for our little farewell party. I called my roomie, who had spent all day shoping! ;), to let her know about our pizza party. She was in a cab on the way back to the hotel and would join us soon.
Up in Atlantia's room, we munched on pizza, swapped emails and contact info. While channel surfing we caught Amanda Tapping being interviewed on a show called The Standard. She spoke about what it's like working with RDA (I bet she gets asked that a lot!) and about the recent passing of her twin brother. We also caught an SG1 ep (the first one with Ishta (Jolene Blalock) and the pilot episode of Star Trek Enterprise.
Sue and Adrienne joined us (different Sue from the one who went on our outing today) and entertained us with the story of that afternoon's set visit. One of them won it in the auctions during the con. Lucky! Am not the least bit jealous! ;) Of the things I remember them telling us -
- they said the actors were filming a scene in the puddle jumper
- they lost count at how many times Hewlett got his lines wrong! *giggle*
- Hewlett was munching on Chinese food during breaks between filming
- They got pics with Jason and Joe
Then it was time to call it a night. At least for me. I'm sure the party continued on into the night. ;) I went back to the room to pack up some of my things and tidy up a bit. I would be leaving in the morning.
