My studio recital for my piano kids is today at 5pm. It's been tradition to have a potluck after the spring recital. It's smallish, probably the smallest recital I've held, with 7 kids performing. Two kids might not make it; they've been ill this week and their mom was supposed to call me yesterday and I haven't heard from her nor is anyone answering the phone (apparently they don't have an answering machine). So it may just be 5 kids performing. I thought about canceling it altogether this week and then I thought that wouldn't be fair to the kids who are going to be here.
ETA: As I was writing this, the dad called to say they are going to make it. \o/
Also, the weather is not cooperating. It is cloudy and raining. This is June for crying out loud. So much for enjoying the patio outside for our potluck dinner.
Recital to-do list:
- clean house
- clean patio
- print programs
- make ice cream
- arrange house furniture for recital
- shower, relax and wait for students to arrive
- 5pm RECITAL! ♫
- Clean up
Also, completely unrelated to the recital, I have decided to train for my first ever 10K race. I have 9 weeks before the race (August 7th) and this is my training plan:
One of the folks over at
runners provided a link to a nifty tool called the
Smart Coach Plan at Runner's World. You can tailor your personal goals to come up with your training plan.
I'm already running a total of 4 miles per week so the plan should transition my running distance nicely.
ETA: Recital a success! \o/
