The morning of the 4th was a gorgeous! I picked up my friend K and we met another friend at the starting line for the Independence Day 5K race. K and I finished at the same time 32:06. This is a new personal best for me! Woot!
We walked around, cooled down and did some stretching. Then got in line for the pancake breakfast. It was delicious.
Overall, I placed 96th place (out of 153) and 11th in my age group. My average mile pace was 10:21.
I got back home around 10am. Did some laundry and chores around the ranch. Put together the bean dip for my friends 4th of July potluck. Their neighbor had purchased $400 worth of fireworks. o_O The kids took great delight in choosing which ones to set off. They'd run over to us and scream, "This one's ours!!" each time they chose the fireworks to set off and then they'd run around in glee, screaming and having a good time. Ah, to be a child again!
I got home around midnight and it was really hard to get out of bed the next morning to practice my big patriotic postlude for church. Then I had a moment of panic when I got to church when I thought I'd left the big patriotic number at home but I hadn't; it was in my music binder.
I spent most of the afternoon on the net, admiring pictures from the Point Roberts parade. You people who went are so lucky!!! Thanks for posting pics and sharing stories!
