Tuesdays are my busiest teaching days with 7 students. 5 of them canceled today. One called on Sunday and rescheduled her lesson for yesterday. My 3pm flaked. My 4:30 called to reschedule for Thursday. My 6:30 called to say the little one came home ill from school and has been diagnosed with a mild strain of pneumonia. So that left 5:30 and 6.
A book I've had requested for ages on PaperbackSwap.com is finally on it's way! Yay! It's a post apocalyptic series by S.M. Stirling that I've been reading and can't wait to continue the story.
Last Friday I went for a bike ride along the Sacramento River. On the way I stopped to admire Mt. Lassen. It's an active volcano but hasn't erupted since the early 1900's. It's over a 100+ miles from my house, so if it should decide to go boom again, I'm not in immediate danger. Not that I want it too...I'm just saying.
Next I spied this lovely green open field. Maybe it's what Rodney thinks of to avert panic attacks. ;)
A half mile up the road was a new little park that wasn't there the last time I'd been up this way; complete with picnic areas and a walking trail. Very quiet and tranquil.
*imagines TeamSGA walking along the trail to the village in the next clearing, just past the trees* I think I really miss SGA.
Then I found a quiet spot to sit along the Sacramento River. It was actually a bit lighter than it shows in this picture.
It was while sitting here that I learned from Jenise that she did not get a pink slip from the school district that afternoon. Yay!
Then I rode up the road some more to another park along the river that has been around for ages but they've recently been working on it by maintaining the walking trail and adding to it, and providing new restroom facilities, picnic tables and benches along the trail.
When I was younger, I used to think it odd that there would be a staircase leading down to the water's edge. I like to sit on the stairs and watch beavers and ducks and all manner of river wild life drift/swim along the river.
