My mother left a will leaving my brother and I a little money. It was in a safety deposit box in my aunt's name.
My stepfather and his son grabbed it away from my aunt, after it had been read, and now says it never existed, that there is no money, and the day after she died, he transferred all of his property to his grandson so that it would appear he has no assets.
Then he claimed that he was the beneficiary of a tiny life insurance policy she had, when in fact we were.
The bastard also tried to get a check from my brother to pay off her car, with the promise that he would get it afterwards. My brother found out about the property transfer and rushed to retrieve the check, which set all this in motion.
We've hired a lawyer to look into this but since Mom was stupid enough to write the will herself and not file a copy with the courthouse, the outlook is not good. They're probably going to get away with stealing the last gift my mother left for Brian and I, selling the property to a land developer and making a small fortune.
