I am not denying their existence, but too often they are defined for our own subconscious purposes or conscious advantages.
When a Tea Party think tank announced that North Dakota was the “freest state in the US,” it was pointed out by liberal outlets that the determination of “freedom” was strictly based upon which state had the lowest taxes, but meanwhile the ND legislature was busily and quietly trying to find ways to restrict women’s reproductive freedoms with zoning laws or some such nonsense.
