so i went to this house party at the beaches last night. I was already halfway drunk by the time I got there. the atmosphere was quite different. lots of people. friendly people. creative people: digital animators, painters and writers, editors and filmy people. tons of alcohol and weed. everyone shared. lots of smiles and laughs.
i got caught in a couple of super interesting converstions. one dude couldnt stop spewing off about how controlling his chakra changed his life. he was a functional alcoholic for 13 years until he discovered the mystical path through martial arts. we both agreed that we wanted to fight each other. rescheduled.
a super tattooed dude with 4 teeth missing from the front also wanted to fight me. we chatted about how primal/spiritual fighting was when aggression and hate were taken out of the equation. we were so close to taking it outside...but his wife wouldnt let him.
so stick after stick of different kinds of weed and a bottle of jack daniels took me to that place...that place where you'd pretty much try anything...but the place just oozed of positivity. things got a bit silly for a little...super silly actually. fun, semi-intelligent silly. we settled into a warmly lit, cozy livingroom with red walls, fuzzy couches and the music changed from sinatra to marley to hiphip and alternative in a way that made so much sense. then i tried salvia divinorum for the first time. its a psychelic herb used by Mazatec shamans of the Sierra Madre. its completely legal. in fact, it makes for a beautiful household plant...so im thinking of buying one. there are 6 levels of "divine inebriation"...after having read about the levels...im confident that I reached level 3.
"Level - 3 "L" stands for LIGHT visionary state. Closed-eye visuals (clear imagery with eyes closed: fractal patterns, vine-like and geometric patterns, visions of objects and designs). The imagery is often two dimensional. If open-eyed visual effects occur, these are usually vague and fleeting. At this level, phenomena similar to the hypnagogic phenomena that some people experience at sleep onset occur. At this level, visions are experienced as "eye candy" but are not confused with reality."
"Salvia is a consciousness-changing herb that can be used in a vision quest, or in a healing ritual. In the right setting, Salvia makes it possible to see visions. It is an herb with a long tradition of sacred use. It is useful for deep meditation. It is best taken in a quiet, nearly darkroom; either alone (if a sitter will not be used, see below for discussion of sitters), or with one or two good friends present. It should be taken either in silence or (sometimes) with soft pleasant music playing."
i was in a salvador dali painting for all of 60 seconds...i was interlocked with objects and people in the room by lego blocks and grapevines. it was absolutely beautiful. you dont realize youre in it until you're out trying to crawl back in. its a fleeting glimpse of a reality that doesnt readily open itself. having seen "that LSD documentary" i would say its pretty damn close...but it doesnt last and you're left with a feeling of clarity...refreshed....invigorated.
its an intelligent drug often used for meditation and healing. introspective. real. you can close your eyes or keep em open...either way, the visions are crazy! but you dont really lose touch with the "real" environment...rather, you see it differently. i was talking through my trip...describing in detail what my eyes were seeing...and in the end i said "Why did you guys leave me there? You should have seen it." But its a personal drug...people saw and experienced different things. One guy thought he was merging with a houseplant and he was part of a forest. another dude went outside to look at the stars. it doesnt even last for 2 minutes...but time doesnt exist in that time frame under salvia divinorum.
i got home. chilled with Tanya and Mark for a bit...introduced Tanya to Di (i took a pic of their first meeting...nice pic). then i settled in and chatted w/ di for a little while. what the hell did we talk about? lots of things...and things that made me laugh...but what specifically? fell asleep...got woken up by the sun feeling super refreshed! got up and went to Jan's house to pick up a fresh copy of Fists of Flurry 3...pretty intense little movie. i love it.
looking forward to a fresh new week ahead! no more blahness!
