Okay, I'm now active on Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/u/0/100516437261483696990/posts. I've found that WordPress is good for writing content and bad for social connection, while G+ is good socially but bad for significant content. It's closer to Twitter than to LJ. So neither of these venues is able to replace the other. So I'm following the lead of splicer and writing real blog posts at http://supersonicman.wordpress.com/, and just posting links and summaries on G+.
