Sitting at home tonight, but I don't really mind. Spent a couple hours reading things on Warren Ellis' Live Journal. He wrote on it "Entertain Me". When I looked, 9 pages of people had done so, and as such, I was also entertained.
Went to the Madison Mallards game last night. The city has capped their attendance at 5000 (fire code reasons). In response, I think the team just stopped counting how many people came. One of the vendors figured it was between 9 and 10 thousand fans. While that's a bit more than usual, they've been drawing fantastically well all year. The tickets are cheap, the beer is cheap, the announcer is hysterically funny, they do entertaining things between innings, the beer is cheap, the players are friendly and accessable, and they have fun promotions. Oh, and did I mention cheap beer? I think the major league teams need to learn something from this. I went to one Brewers game this year. Why? They were doing a promotion with cheap ticket prices and concessions. Place was packed, and it was a weeknight. Most weeknights, the place is pretty darn quiet. If they'd drop prices a bit, on tickets, food, and drink, people might be willing to go more often.
Tomorrow, I go out with a couple of friends that are moving out of town. Expect drunking ramblings here afterwards. (As opposed to tonights sober ramblings.)
