Small Fries

The bad news is that I've been slacking off all week and not writing about my conversation Tuesday with Whitney Wood, who just recently got back from his year abroad in India where, when he wasn't working on a paper about the idionsyncrasies of the betel leaf industry, was doing a lot of soul-searching. We had an awesome conversation, which is unextraordinary given how awesome Whitney Wood is. But instead of writing about that conversation, I've been dicking around on the internet. (As well as feeling diseased for a day, but that passed)

The good news is that I dicked around a lot on the internet and found some cool things. Webcomics!

Steve Morrell, on the U.S.: "We're the party capital of the world. Nobody parties more than us...except Brazil."

Speaking of Brazil, I met one of mom's Brazilian friends/students today and while I shook her hand, she leaned in for the anticipated double cheek kiss thing, which I was totally unprepared for. So instead there was this very brief awkward half-second. It was like the most minute, statically electric culture shock ever.
