I have a morbid fascination with other people's interpersonal drama, whenever it erupts around me.
Which is why I love the internet.
So there turns out to be this very large and well-established
-ive-ournal internet community, with complicated rivalries etc., that
I've been creeping up on for a few months now. And recently it
exploded. Colorfully.
If any of you are bored and want to
celebrate the absurdity of internet-based life, check out the
communities
real_philosophy and
faux_philosophy and track the last week or so worth of postings. Also, check out the
palaceofjustice and
this (hilarious, with a little context) post from, like, June.
Sometimes I wish I knew something about sociology so I could dissect this sort of thing and understand it. But for now I've just got this sort of movie-goer's attitude that this is some sort of timeless and recurring part of humanity's condition. It's got power, abuse of power, archetypal prankster characters, tragic antiheroes, love-to-hatables, rebellion against authority, etc.
...at least from this distance.
