For those who know me well, you will know that I am heavily into music. Can't play an instrument to save myself, although I used to be very good at playing the penis. The sampling rate doesn't have anything to do with dynamic range. It's the bit depth eg 24 bit vs 16 bit, that determines the dynamic range. Sampling rate determines the Nyquist Frequency - the highest frequency that can be reproduced, which is half the sampling rate (hence 44khz, as it's a bit more than double the highest frequency humans can hear).
Second: ever opened up a hard drive? What's inside? a spinning platter, a bit like ah… a cd.

Spinning hard drive, yes. True. But if I recall correctly, the information is accessed, and then placed in RAM for the actual process of playback - not played back on the fly from the spinning disk.
