Because sometimes I love music too much

And what else can you do at 4am when your body conspires to keep you awake?

I love studying other people's music collections (books and dvds are fun too) to see I how I can fit them into my frame of cultural reference. Can't help it, always do it. The iPod is not a great way to do this though, as the age of download means people can fill their iPods with music they never listen to.

Being from the Antipodes, indifferent to Triple J polls (or any other fucking radio station polls), I thought I'd list my favourite Aussie and Kiwi bands, for my own pleasure of course. To analyse myself, or to give you other music geeks (Mark Deniz, Ben Payne, no fingers pointed here..) out there an insight into what I like. I shall preface this by saying I own over 3500 pieces of music (be it cd, vinyl or dvd).

I've broken it down into:

Favourite - self explanatory
Current - artists still in rotation, alphabetical listing
Former - artisits I used to be into (by into I have more than one album of and were really into, yeah?) In chronological order of when I first discovered them. I still like them, I just don't play them regularly. A problem of having so much music.
Other - artists I liked one album of or perhaps only a greatest hits or missed the boat somewhat on. Also in chronological order.
