Review: French and Saunders

Jul 20, 2009 23:07

Dear French and Saunders,

You have been my favourite female comedians since I first saw you riding around on bicycles in Five Go Mad In Dorset when I was 12 years old. Tonight I went to your live show and I'd like my money back please.

Regards,

Paul Haines

A fairly safe and pedestrian set of well-rehearsed gigs. The funniest stuff was on the giant video screen, but I could get that off YouTube I'm sure.

They were my generation of comics, but I guess somewhere along the way they started aiming for the generation above me.

I was bummed I didn't get my arse into gear to get tickets. They were truly awesome in their heyday. I'm sad to hear the show sucked.

A lot of people were laughing, and they got a semi-standing ovation. It could have just been me. And my wife. And my brother. And my sister.

And maybe the audience didn't know them in their heyday? I thought the audience was generally too old to have been Comic Strip or early French and Saunders fans. (I know my mum wasn't, but she loves them from Ab-fab days onwards).

I'd probably agree with your family's view. I like their old stuff better than their new stuff
