My heart isn't in this so much now, because I spent two hours making an entry and writing captions and it got deleted. I was crushed. So here's this half attempt at a concert entry.
Sorry, these are all very blurry. Also, I wish they were more zoomed in but that was the furthest my camera could go.
I don't remember the order of the songs, but they opened with "Istanbul not Constantinople."
This picture makes it look like we were really far away, but it felt close when I was there. John Flansburgh was like "Those foam fingers are really working out."
"And thank you to WHYY, for this really big blue banner." -John Flansburgh
I think this was "Alphabet of Nations." John Linnell looks so cute here!
I think it was after this song that Flansburgh was like "I've been trying to make eye contact with you for this whole song... [to this guy in the back of the audience who had been talking on his cell phone] "....I'm like 'What is this Type A guy doing? Always gotta close' " [The guy yelled "That was my favorite song! I was trying [something garbled]"] And John Flansburgh was like "Okay, we'll talk about it after the show."
Aw, he's smiling while he's singing!
John Linnell kept talking about squinting.
"Dan Miller, more notes, less feeling." -John Flansburgh
I think this might have been when John Flansburgh said he hadn't been touring because he'd been taking whittling classes at the Y with John Linnell. "This is what I whittled," and he pulled out maracas. Then he was like "Dan Miller whittled something too" and Dan Miller held up a triangle.
I think Dan Miller is really cute.
See above caption.
This was my artistic photo, I guess.
During one of Dan Miller's guitar solos, John Linnell was like "Explain what I just said with notes, Dan Miller. ...................ah!............................I see..............................oh!"
John Linnell introduced this song: "This song is from our unreleased record.... do you call them records still? Well, I do. Some advanced copies of it are out... there are advanced copies copies under the tent down there.... and in several stores.... this is the title track from the album and I'm not going to say anymore! ........... it's called The Spine."
Blurry
REALLY Blurry.
Candids!
Orr pretending I'm not trying to take his picture.
Look at that guy with the sunglasses in the background, ha.
Dan looks like he hates me in this picture.
I am so sad that the summer is ending.
