I've never felt more defeated or disgusted than I do right now. We 'got out the vote,' and those voters proceeded to say "I'm really going to have to vote my conscience on this one. Bush has just such strong morals. And I know he is really the right choice for national security."
When my mom was canvassing for MoveOn.org, she talked to this one older man who said he was going to vote for Bush:
MY MOM: We should not be fighting in Iraq; their reasons for going were unsubstantiated and Iraq had nothing to do with September 11th!
MAN: Who told you that, the Kerry campaign?
