Today was my first day of full performances (7) in which none were rained out. This fact allowed me to realize that I only work 20 minutes of every hour. The rest of the time, I sit in my dressing room. This fact also lead me to read an entire 90-page play in one day. Those of you who know me know that I've NEVER been a "reader". But, after work, I swung by Borders to pick out a book (which will be the first fictional "book" I've read in a loooooooong time). After much directionless wandering (and suggestions from Jamers), I picked Chuck Palaniuk's "Lullabye". And any OTHER suggestions from any "readers" who read this will be greatly appreciated.
If it helps with your suggestions, I have a much easier time reading pieces that contain many stopping points (e.g.: TONS of short chapters, or some other kind of structure that allows me to set a goal to finish reading "these next few pages"). Obviously, a good book is a good book... but I'm really bad at reading stories or chunks of stories that go very slowly. For instance, if it takes the author two paragraphs to describe the morning air when he stepped outside for the day, consider me DONE. I appreciate artistic, poetic description... but not when it comes in heavy lumps of intestinal string.
Thanks for your suggestions!!!
Oh yeah... and if there are hauntings or encounters with sasquatch in the story, I'm SO THERE!!!
