I just deleted my facebook account, and am rather pleased that I managed to get the courage to do it. I know that now I will no longer be able to:
a) Receive event invitations from people I went to school with whom I never talked to AT school, and I now never see.
b) Upload photos from my non-existent digital camera.
c) Look at photos that are so interesting that I will be shown them anyway.
d) Read that at 4am my-parents'-friend's-daughter's-cousin's-ex-boyfriend-whom-I've-met-once-in-my-life "is in a park with friends and is having a fantastic nite!".
Ah dear!
I know there are legitimate uses for facebook. But for me, there are other and more preferable ways of keeping up with friends. Choristers (and of course librain & superangelic!), I can always know what you are up to through LJ, if I can't see you in the 3d world! (And I know I should post more often. Srry!) That facebook had the nerve to tell me as I was quitting that "your 133 friends will miss you" struck a particularly hollow note, as well as being a very nasty marketing tactic.
So, I'm now and anti-social dragon that has retreated to brood, and sulk and escape from the world. A proper post will be issued shortly from the top of the mountain of gold in my den.
