If only I could write concisely...

I'm 60% through the advised word limit and I've written my introduction, historical background and about half of chapter one of four. Still, better to have too much to say than too little, eh?

A positive of all this, I have a new favourite French word - la lesophobie.

anyway, once you get the whole thing written, then you can whack it down within 'advised' limits or plead for mercy and give them the whole enchilada.

btw I'm going to drop you a note about a matter within my family. ;-)

I am quite fond of a favorite favorite, pamplemousse, and also pantoufle for its sound. What other language has such floral words, like 'poubelle', for such mundane objects?

And--PhD programs have advised word limits now? One should be allotted however much space is necessary to say what one needs to say!

It's not a PhD; it's my undergraduate dissertation which should stick to around 10,000 words and I'm getting contrasting information about how important it is to respect the limit which is incredibly helpful.

My apologies--I saw 'dissertation' and assumed 'PhD'! (For undergrads, we usually call it a 'thesis'--hence my assumption.)

Is that word limit set at the university, department, or what level? I'm curious, since I haven't heard of anything like that over here. :)
