Finally some more building activity has occurred. This morning a guy turned up for a quick inspection as he will be doing the last of the metalwork tomorrow for the verandahs. Then the garage goor installer arrived and not long after lunch time our flashy new remote control door was in place. It consists of half a dozen flat panels that run up under the ceiling which is a more space efficient system than the old tilt door we had and also better than the traditional roll-a-door. The tilt door limited how close you could have something inside and outside the door becasue of the room needed when the door tilted. A roll-a-door is better, but you are left with the big rolled up door that limits the overall height of anyhting you might want to push through the door. This gives you the vertical travel of a roll-a-door with the compact height of the tilt door.
I spent the early afternoon pootling around on a few errands. First up was a trip to a wreckers yard in Ringwood to try and get a replacement petrol cap for one I had lost. There weren't any Commodore ones, but fortunately the fuel filler neck for most (possibly all) cars running on unleaded fuel are identical, so a cap from another model car should fit. I grabbed a couple (one Nissan and one Hyundai) and sure enough they fitted any other car I cared to try. So I bought both of them for a whole $6.60 and wandered back to my car. As expected the first one I tried fitted perfectly.
Next it was off to the plumbing supplies place to order the last item on the list for the extensions, the urinal. Most (actually, probably all) people that this gets mentioned find it strange that I should want a urinal in the ensuite. To me it makes perfect sense, no need to lift the toilet seat up and down and the urinal is at a better height for peeing than a toilet anyway. Oh, and it takes 33% less water to flush a urinal.
From there it was off to a printer to arrange for some book plates to be printed for Trudi. I'm starting to get the hang of this office manager/errand boy thing and it is a better life than ANZ if not as well paid.
