Hey Hey
my last day at the golf course was tuesday and it was a pretty good one. what a way to end the summer. the day was mostly relaxed and we basically just hung outside grilling some hotdogs. every payday we usually have hot dog friday, everyone throws in a few bucks and we grill lunch. a few times we had sausage and peppers.Mmm. everyone decided to grill hotdogs on tuesday, 1) because we havent done it in a while 2) i was leaving. i'd like to think it was more #2. im glad to be "retired". im sure im going to miss it, its been the best job. a few other guys are leaving. Frank put his notice in this week. hes going to make a ton of money with his buddy. frank was an interesting character. if you were working on a job with him you would learn everything there is to know about Grand Union. he was VP of grand union and made a ton of money. he offered a lot of advice that i was willing to take. life is scary. especially now. im young and have little direction. I simply dont know enough about the real world to make decisions about my career/life. but i have learned that you just need to work hard =, be aggressive and let things play out.
Bruce was another retired guy who had worked for GE most of his career and then became involved in a credit union. hes another great guy. if youve ever seen futurama he looks exactly like scruffy the janitor. he was always cheerful in the morning and he would wave/salute you whenever he saw you. it didnt matter if it was 3 secs after you just saw him.
wayne AKA grill master worked as a prison guard for 25 years. he's a hilarious wiseass and has some great stories about the inmates.
Leo was the mechanic for the course. this year he was really busy. seemed like something would break everyday. hes an old farm boy who is constantly drinking coffee (black) and lighting cigarettes. we would always bullshit for about an hour a day.
Ron - in his mid to late 70's and wont mow anything but the rough. this guy had a system and would stick to it. you would see him come in the morning and you wouldnt see him until the end of the day.
Dan is the assistant superintendent. he has the worst farts you'll ever smell and i played some halo online with him. hes pretty good. i was nicknamed his son because it seemed like i would follow him around and he would teach me kinda useless stuff.
randy was my boss. chill guy, he didnt give a shit what you did as long as you didnt destroy anything. he brought his dog -indie- to work everyday. the dog is cancerous and would eat anything you put infront of him. i guess randy has a hot young russian wife. hes hates the owner bill and constantly makes fun of him. its hilarious.
travis is a stoner but overall a really chill guy. he drove up to see robert randolph at OH fest last year.
so im out of work and the one thing i want to do is sleep in. unfortunately, my bio clock or whatever it is, is set to 4am still. to the past few days ive woken up around 4ish and havent been able to sleep past 8. i even tried staying up pretty late, but i would still wake up early.
My car is legal! tuesday i had to replace the blower motor and to do this i had to take the alternator off. no problem. everything went in pretty smoothly until i tried to put the belt back on. i pulled on the tension pulley which keeps the belt tight, and the whole pull popped out. the spring on the pull has to be about an 80 lb spring. there was not enough clearence for me to fix it. my car was going into the shop to get the blinker fixed the next day. so i took the belt off and drove it up there. i also needed a new brake hose, which if i had time i could easily do. all the blinker need was a new flashing unit. apparently there's 2 units , one for the four way flashers and one for the turn signals. instead of placing them near each other the manufacturer decided to hide the turn signal way up in the dash. i would have never found it. but it only cost me $17 to get that fixed. the problem was the tension reel and brake hose and inspection cost me another 270. so i ended up spending (quick do the math) around $300.
so my cars good to go. i fixed the horn and the blower, i painted it and it passed inspection. the paint job is ok nothing great. the hood is a little orange peely but thats ok. im going to have to blame that on ryan.
school shopping today. im getting excited to go back.
