Arms Open Wide

Sometimes with death, a new life can begin

So I die today, I fall for the last time

And know, that I do it for you

Do not be burdened, do not be weary

Your new life can now begin

The utmost sacrifice of love

A debt I can at last repay

For in my honor, you have died

A thousand times before

Coming back each time, more willing to return to the grave

“reckless” I said

“devoted…protective,” you said

It never clicked until the moment

I took that last step

The only regret?

That you have to live with the sight of my end

Rather than just the knowledge

But know, that I’d do it all again for you

Reckless,

Devoted,

Protective,

I say

supernatural poetry
