Just some odds and ends...

I've become cheap. I refuse to drive my car anymore, which doesn't necessarily make me cheap, but on my bike ride back home today from class, I ate lunch at Speedway. I went in, got a super great deal on two hot dogs, a fountain drink and bag of chips. All for less than the cost of a gallon of gas! Then I stood out front of the store and ate, posting up on the stack of coke boxes. Yeah, I had it goin' on.

I think its funny when companies use B-list celebrities in commercials. There was high unintentional comedy today as I saw Chris Dudley in a diabetes medicine commercial. Just exactly who is Chris Dudley you ask? That's what makes it so funny! Heck, Chris might even be 'C' list.

Oh, and to my list of reasons why I'm old, please add "Listens to NPR in the car".

Turning my attention to more meaningful things-

The devastation and destruction in New Orleans is undescribable. It just goes to show you that man is no match for nature. A lot of prayer is needed for those people, they've lost everything. There is no doubt in my mind though that God can and will use this disaster for his glory. Some people have nothing else to turn to now but Him.

My brother's National Guard unit has been called up. He will be heading out at the start of next week and spending around a month there helping with the cleanup. Or, as I've heard on the news, its possible that he could be used as riot control and policing. My dad also told me that its not entirely impossible that State Farm sends him to N.O. to help process claims. State Farm is the largest insurer in Louisiana.

Last thing- Why is it President Bush seems at his best during crisis situations? He seemed poised, controlled and charismatic during his speech about the disater.
