Never again will you, the reader, my friend, my passenger, ever let me yell at people in other cars. Today marks the day I realized I'm really not as good of a driver as I think I am. You can frequently find me red faced and full of rage at stupid people in other cars driving around Lexington. But today, I joined their ranks.
Now, you know how somedays you are just off your game? I mean, nothing goes right and no matter how hard you try, you screw it all up. Today was one of those times for me. I can't exactly remember all the stupid things I did, but I remember thinking to myself in horror, "I've become one of THEM!" Things like being in turn lanes when I need to go straight and then holding up traffic to merge, or thinking I'm at a 4-way stop but really it was only two way and I pulled out in front of someone. I wasn't even on the flippin' telephone! Which, by the way, did you see the report saying you're 4x more likely to wreck if you're using a celly? How do they measure that? Is that just an arbitrary number? Did you know you're 11.5x more likely to step in dog poo if you're walking and talking on a cell phone? While I can't vouch for specfic numbers, I do say you are much more likely to wreck while talking on a cell.
All in all, I'm glad to be off the road. Maybe a little rest and I will be able to resume my role as a driving snob. If anything, perhaps I've realized its possible for me to suck at driving once in a while. I just can't figure out why its all the time for everyone else, though. ;)
