Whew..............one holiday down, another to go!

I can't wait for Christmas!!!  It is probably my most favorite holiday.  Sure, I get frazzled with all the shopping and commercialism, but I truly enjoy the simple things from it as well.  I love the decorating, baking, card writing and everything else that goes with it.

I got a call from the ( Read more... )

^^" I love x-mas. I'm wiccan and Yule is just around the corner from x-mas, so we (my wife and I) celebrate x-mas and yule at the same time, because they eseentially have the same spirit of meaning, sans the whole birth of jesus thing. I can't wait to see your x-mas decorations!!! I just finished decorating my house last night, and can't wait to take pictures to post on my LJ. Hopefully it will be fixed sometime this week. I have no idea why some friends can see my writings, and other cannot. Hope all is well! =P

Of course, I hope you realize that I had to actually look up the meaning of Yule time. In all these years, I don't think I ever realized what it stood for. So now I am confused a bit. You said that Christmas and Yule essentially share the same spirit or meaning, with the exception of the birth of Jesus. To me Christmas IS celebrating the birth of Jesus, then you get to add all those warm and bubbly feelings for your loved ones. Yule, according to what I read, is the celebration of the seasons changing and paying homage to nature. (Of course, that was an extremly quick read...didn't have a lot of time to read word for word.) How are they the same?

P.S. It fascinates me about other beliefs, so please don't take my question as me saying I don't agree with you. I just like to learn about things in general.

^-^" You might be one of the 1% of people who actually use x-mas as a time to celebrate the birth of jesus, but from what I observe, at least in bible belt country (aka, the south east) I notice that most people just use it as a time to buy presents and decorate thier house. =) I don't want to seem like I am trivializing your beliefs, by all means, I think that many people have lost the whole meaning beheind x-mas, but it's funny sometimes when kids know who santa is, and not jesus ( ... )

"the God is born from the Goddess at Yule"

I like that quote....:) I was getting real tired of the age old belief that Eve was created from Adam's rib. It's about time women got top billing...:)

You did clear it up...and confused me at the same time...hahaha. But that is okay.

Thanks for the lesson.

P.S. I am a Catholic (if you couldn't already tell) and I teach Catholicism to a 5th grade class. So yes....I celebrate the birth of Jesus. But, just so you know, I really dig the presents and the decorations too!! )

^^" ha! you would be a great pagan if you want women to get top bililng. The Goddess is our spiritual diety! =) All things/actions/spirits and everything has a gender, and birth and the earth, or course female.
