Think!
Study the world around you
always, all ways
Look closely,
think
remember.
Remember how it feels
from moment to moment
study those feelings
think about them
remember how it is here and now
Be subtle
Notice finer points
take time to remember
Remember what you feel
when things you see
affect you
Dare to fell profoundly
Consider Art
The incredible summations
The dense power of
captured essence
You will find that you
share experience with them.
That you will see something
expressive of something you feel.
-John Pidgeon
written sometime between 1985 and 1990 before his death on April 5th, 1990
That poem was written by my uncle John, my mother's older brother who died of AIDS complications at the age of 37 on the eve of my birth, taking his last breaths only a few hours before I took my first. My family often told me that my uncle John must have kissed me on my way down from heaven as he was on his way up. While I am not sure about heaven and hell and where we go or come from, I'd like to believe we crossed paths in the cosmos somewhere, the words he wrote carry so much beauty and power. I am truly blessed to have them to read now.
