A Return (entries signed “-P” are written by the candidate)

I recently decided to delete my Facebook account. I haven’t followed through on this yet because it is for some reason a big step and I’m procrastinating.

At this point, the reasons for keeping it are dwarfed by the reasons for spiking it. I know if it’s there, I’ll use it. I don’t want to use it. MySpace and The Facebook heralded new and terrible phases when they came on the scene like eighteen years ago. Not only in the world and this country, which FB has irretrievably made angrier, stupider, and more violent, but in my own life, which it has made more violent, angrier, and stupider.

Fas est to be rid of it. Maybe this will come back meaningfully, but I won’t hold my breath. I spend like 85% of my day reading things, whether on screens or paper, or for work or pleasure. I’d probably do well with some more outside time, but the days grow short and it’s hard to read in the dark.

Ok well I’ve rambled enough.

Engage.
