And I do mean Mark. Had my op yesterday for removal of cancerous mole. It went well in that a) I still have my right eye, b) they cut out the mole entirely, and c)apparently after all the swelling and bruising and pulling dies down, I'll have a bit of an eye-lift. But only on one side. Still, one down and one to go..
I did find myself saying stupid things to the cosmetic surgeon like, "You seem to be very good at this. Do you perhaps take part in quilting bees in your spare time?" or, "Is that scraping sensation I feel you carving into actual bone?"
"No," he replied."That's still just the cancer. By the way, the less you speak, the less your jaw moves, and therefore the less chance you suffer of winding up with a question mark carved into your face."
He did show me the sutures before they bandaged me up, and I must say it's gonna be a bigger scar than I had anticipated- but then the mole was bigger than they had anticipated. Apparently, like them pesky North Atlantic icebergs, it was bigger under the surface.
Still it, should all be fine. And I know I'll be more comfortable once I can remove this danged bandage from my face. I get to change the bandage for a slightly smaller one tomorrow and bathe the sutures (I get to wash my hair!).
I would like to add at this point that walking around with a black eye and a Stayfree Maxi Pad slapped on my face did NOT prevent me from excercising my civic duty and voting in the MEP elections today. I went Lib Dem. They seem to be a tad more honest, or at least to be living a tad more modestly...
On a final note: RIP David Carradine. Yeesh. Found dead roped and bound in the closet of a Bangkok hotel? Dude, what a way to go....
