I'm sure that everyone always look forward to a break from work and school! well, this is one activity i did during the holidays.
On the 19/11/07, I had my first secondary school senior farewell party. I was one of the proud few to be in charge of buying two 1.5L drinks and also my first planned treasure hunt-cum-game station. we were given an hour and 15 minutes. On sunday night, I hurriedly made the score cards, the clues, the items to find and also the items my own game station needed. I was so elated at the job I had done by hand. My dad did not allow me to print anything out. I worked the whole night and in the morning. i met the rest of my fellow ICs at McDonalds and we planned the thing. at the same time, i totally forgot about the drinks.
when we all went to school, i looked at the drinks the others had bought. i froze in horror and ran to the nearest shop to buy the drinks. once i came back with my friend, we had to wait in the choir room. while Mr Shahril was confirming the whole plan with us, two familiar faces popped out from the window. the first two seniors! Mr Shahril signaled us to go now as the two seniors went in.
all was well and we could only set up our game stalls after lunch, while everyone was busy playing a game. when the seniors went in, we burst some balloons and confetti went all on them. we were all having a blast. we played the first game, which was understand the senior and juniors. we won due to the rule that 'every senior is 5 juniors'. sadly, my question wasn't picked as many juniors would have known that the answer would be Fall out boy or Patrick Stump. nevertheless, it was fun.
we went out for lunch and i ate at McDonalds. after that, that was when it was time to set up our game stall.
the first was managed by two people. it was the normal vesrion of the 'spider web' game. we wanted to put tooth paste and things on it but we couldn't as many weren't willing to sacrifice their shirts. the second was done by another two people. what the group had to do was one by one go to a bucket full of ice and put their hand in there to reach for a utensil. then, they had to go to a bowl of ice cream to eat it. the ice cream had melted but still they had to eat it. mine was next. they would pick an alphabet and a number. then they had to name and write down the number of things that start with that alphabet. the last was a bonus stage. all the stations were to assign the groups a pink slip and find items on it. i was running all over the place helping the teams set up the stall or checking to see if they were done. also, i had to run to tell them that the game was going to start. although i wasn't in charge, i tried my best to make this game a huge success! ( :) )
to my worst horror, it was a HUGE flop. each station was giving 15 minutes to play and there was six groups. i was wrong of me to think that there would be alot of people in a group. in fact, at the end there was only 3 per group. every group played the game and finished in less than 3 minutes. the first was done in less than that and the second was so messy and they had to clean up. the third, mine was very short and the bonus lasted less than 10 minutes. i was disappointed at myself.
at the end, we gave out prizes and everyone received something. the sweet packet we had bought for the first and second team turned out to be too much. but overall, i was happy.
i managed to gather a senior's opinion of the game. he said it was too short and we should have planned it better. despite that, he said it was kind of great as my first IC of game. i was really determined to try harder if there was a next time
we had a huge BBQ which there were only a few of the seniors that came. i ate alot of satays and chicken breast kebab. my friend talked me into trying the minty kebab and i had to refill my drink many times! i had to admit, i'm not much of a spicy person.
we gathered in a circle and answered four questions:
1) Name
2) Hobby
3) What was your most favourite memory in choir
4) What you would like to see the choir as in 10 years
i forgot to say that my hobby was listening to fall out boy and i'm utterly sad... however, the whole party was great and was the best i had ever been to.
