They really are incredible! They'll have a new album out this May, and I'm dying to hear it! It's just a shame that mainstream radio doesn't have enough guts to showcase artists like The Antlers, who really encapsulate artistry, innovation and passion in the work.

You know, I may be crazy, but I sometimes listen to Hospice and think it would make a spectacular basis for an extreme and dark Sherlock/John AU. Like, a few years post-TGG, and Sherlock hasn't yet met John. After collapsing at a crime scene, it's discovered that he has inoperable brain tumors, and they're not responding to treatment. His health declines quickly. Mycroft hires John to care for Sherlock, and John and Sherlock's relationship follows the events of the Hospice album, with Sherlock suffering from severe depression, delusions and horrible mood swings that make him physically violent and emotionally vulnerable in turns, and John choosing to stay and deal with it all until the very end.

I mean, seriously. When you hear the Atrophy lyrics:

Little porcelain figurines, glass bullets you shoot at the walls...

You can't not think of Sherlock. Or:

I'd happily take all those bullets inside you and put them inside of myself...

And not think of John. ;)

THERE'S GONNA BE A NEW ALBUM? *promptly dies of happiness*

Oh my god, I do the EXACT same thing! I seriously think of them when I listen to Hospice. And I would read that AU in a heartbeat. Guhhh, now I'm brainstorming fic ideas to Hospice because I NEED to write something to it.

Due out on May 10th, of I'm not mistaken, called Burst Apart. ;) They've also just announced a small handful of tour dates.

Oh thank the Primes, I'm not the only one! XD The whole album (maybe aside from Bear...) could just totally be them! I've been half tempted, at least a dozen times, to start on that AU. But I'm just not sure I'm confident enough with their characters to attempt writing it. :\ But OMGuh, if you write to that, I am sooooo THERE!!!!!

Seriously, it needs to be written! Man, I wish I could write it. Maybe someday I will, this summer maybe. *crosses fingers*
