More pictures of Jack, Jen, and Bryan:
http://pics.livejournal.com/patsmor/gallery/0007cksa?page=1 I spent a few days up there and really enjoyed spending time with them. Jack is loads of fun, trying to walk, he loves it when you hold his hands so he can walk as long as he can -- much longer than I can! He's got understandable words now: "Kiht" -- Cat or Kitty. "Dah! --Dad! "Go" - good. "Yoguh" -- Yogurt. There may be more, but I'm not as Fluent in Jack as Jen is.
There's a bad-contrast movie of Jack and Bryan walking (dad-assisted,as described above) at this URL:
http://pat.nithaus.org/jack/feb-08/ It's huge, of course, and you'll want to jack up the brightness. But, a movie!
She wrote when she sent these pictures:"He's been taking more and more steps every day. I'd say he got a good 10 or so today before falling. Any day now... We've tried catching them on video but of course it never works. Ah well."
And, lest I be accused of favoritism, more pictures of Duncan!
http://pics.livejournal.com/patsmor/gallery/0007e7aq?page=1 I talked to him today, and he's loving what he's doing. He's got enough credits that at the beginning of this term he became a sophomore! At the end of the summer he'll be a (goggle!) Junior! He has enough credits now to get his econ degree if he only took electives through the next two years. (I have no idea how this all works...) At any rate, he's talking to his advisor about taking 12 credits a semester the next 3 years or so, and getting a second major in Mathematics at the same time. Reasoning being, if he takes 12 credits per term, he can handle the homework load for a Maths degree, and still graduate at a reasonable time.
He questioned me closely about the planned refi on the house. "Why are you taking more equity out of the house when the market is slumping!!!?!?!?" Decent question. We talked about the much lower interest rate, Still having a decent equity (about 35%), and now that I'll have a 30-year fixed-rate loan, leaving it be for a while. (And why, he asked, does the bank want you to refinance at a lower interest rate?? So they won't have to foreclose, I suggested.... Well, that makes sense..)
I loved having a long chat with him. I miss him a lot.
