learnteach, falzalot, and cnewsonsmith are the best. As Leigh Ann would have said, "They're my heroes."
falzalot's plea for prizes for the Esfenn First Sword tourney prompted me to think that LA's house was packed with SCA stuff that was excellent quality, and would make really good prizes. So I offered to go to Berkeley to go through the room that had the most SCA stuff in it, sort it out, set aside what looked like prizes, and get the other stuff set aside to go to Ducal Prize or something. and pitch the trash.
And, hopefully, find the rest of the poles for the Bell Wedge Duncan inherited, and some other items that we hadn't been able to find. [Which John found! Hoorah!]
These guys came up, not only helped, but leaped in and made it happen when I got overheated and overwhelmed. They did the stuff that I couldn't do, and so hyla_regilla and nitnorth wouldn't have to try. learnteach is going to do some of the running around including getting more boxes and taking away a bunch of camping gear we found that some newcomers to the SCA might use until they decide what they want; cnewsonsmith sorted books into SCA and various esoteric topics, and put them all in boxes. She even walked down to the Smokehouse restaurant and get me lunch, because they bullied me into eating something (altho I thought I was drinking enough, I was pretty shaky. I thought the high 80's-90's would feel a lot cooler than the 115 predicted for home. It didn't.).
falzalot sorted, lugged, schlepped, and was wonderful at attacking stacks of T-shirts, clothes that had been stored away, and making many, many boxes of stuff to go to charity.
They pretty much let me sit and sort little things, like jewelry and other loot, and they sorted other things on autopilot and just asked me questions from time to time.
It made what could have been awful so much easier. And I think that Esfenn will have some great stuff, and the items will have a little extra specialness for coming back into the circle from Siobhan f.
