It must be nice to have money.
Oh yes, I really do realize that I'm lucky to be employed and have a little bit of money to spend -but I want more and I want to complain about it ;-)
I want to go to a store and tell the salesperson: "I want a computer/camera/cellphone etc. that can do x, y and z ". The sales person recommends a model and I buy it.
That would be so nice ;-)
However, with me it usually comes down to looking at how much money I have, and then discovering that the product that experts recommend costs twice what I can pay. So then I try to figure out what the absolute minimum needed capabilities of the device have to be in order to do what I think I want to do. Then I look for sales, discounted and used items. I end up spending a little more than I wanted to, but think I got a good buy.
But of course 6 months later I realize my cheaper compromise sort of works, but is frustrating because it doesn't work quite right , and if I could only have spent just a little bit more I could have had something that is truly satisfying.
I am whining (whinging for the Brits) about computers!
My wife and I have two computers. She just mostly reads fan fiction on LJ ;-) so any decent computer makes her happy, but her old tired friend is acting worn out, and is getting ready to retire. It's time for me to buy a new machine and give her my pretty good older one. I want something for me that can handle photo and 3D graphics pretty well. Not a super expensive, screaming, high end gamer computer, just a good quality, upper mid range, sort of lower end semi gamer computer. As usual, I don't have enough money. So I've spent 2 1/2 weeks compulsively searching the internet for the "refurbished" or ebay special that will cost a little more than I want to spend , so that I can find the computer that's almost good enough, so I can be disappointed when I bring it home ;-)
My wonderful wife has been watching this process, wants me to be happy, and has found a way to make the budget work so I can spend just a little bit more and get something that should be able to do the graphic things I want to do decently well, and "decently well" would be so nice ;-)
Yay!
My wonderful lady is the best ever - I'm in Love!
;-)
