Postcard Party for Injured Marine

Aug 29, 2007 22:03

If you've been a part of Patriot Pen Pals for some time, you may remember the Postcard Parties. The premise of a Postcard Party is to commemorate special events that happen in our Service Members' lives. The Postcard Party could be thrown to celebrate a birthday, the birth of a child or even a promotion. In the past, they have also been used to give a special welcome home to our veterans and to acknowledge those that have served in wars past.

Postcard Parties can be hosted by anyone. Members that would like to like to get involved may send postcards, letters or notes to the recipient. Originally, the Postcard Party goal was to collect at least one greeting from each of the fifty states.

Today there is a very special Marine that needs a good dose of cheer. My understanding is that this young man was deployed to Iraq in January 20007 and was shot in the lower back in late February 2007. The injury resulted in the loss of the use of one of his legs. He is in the spinal cord unit at a military hospital. From the information provided, I am told he is not receiving much mail.

If you would like to send this Marine your best wishes, please contact me (balloonsstreamers @ yahoo.com) for the information. You must be pre-approved for an adoption.
