Former President to Speak at McHenry County Democrats’ Jefferson Dinner

Apr 14, 2011 14:37

President Franklin D. Roosevelt* will make a special guest appearance at this year's Thomas Jefferson Dinner. Roosevelt will comment on current events in the context of the challenges he faced as President during the Great Depression.

The Thomas Jefferson Dinner is the annual fundraising event for the Democratic Party of McHenry County, and attracts hundreds of Democrats, progressives and labor leaders from throughout McHenry County and the greater Chicago area. This year's event promises to be especially important as the  party gears up for the crucial 2012 election season and the always contentious redrawing of Congressional, state and local political district boundaries.

The dinner will also feature special honors for Mary Margaret Maule, recipient of the Robert McGarry Award for Community Service, and Mac Patel who will receive the first ever Benjamin Franklin Business Partner Award.

Dinner includes salad, New York strip steak, sautéed vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes, and dessert or a vegetarian entree upon request.
