So it's been a week and nothing has been written on my story. I have researched and written on a character background for a game this weekend, but that really isn't an excuse.
One of the positive lessons I learned from participating in
NaNoWriMo is setting regular writing habits. It is time for me to get back into that. With my wife working evenings Sunday through Thursday, I have time to myself after work on those days. I've been frittering them away reading webcomics and watching DVDs (Deadwood Season 1 has been fascinating and I've re-watched most of Cowboy Bebop, but that is a different topic). Starting this Sunday, I will spend an hour writing each day from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, at a minimum, Sunday through Thursday. I have several writing projects to work on and it is high time I dedicate time to them.
I'm including this blog as one of my writing projects. I'm debating posting whatever I write here each day, but I am loathe to let see folks read my raw writings. It's the professional editor in me. And maybe the perfectionist. Assuming they aren't the same people. I have friends who post often, nearly once a day on average, and those who can go a month or so between posts. I'm aiming more for once a week. I feel an obligation to give updates, but that may just be me.
I have thoughts on Monohedron Games and where I want to go with it, but they are not fully developed and sound whiny and/or wishy-washy to my ears right now. I'll do some more thinking on them and post my thoughts when they are better formed.
Tangentially (and far out in left field), I'm using Arbortext Editor with Styler at my Dayjob for a project. It is an XML text editor and is much more stable than MS Word. I'm creating a stylesheet, which in this program is 50% XML coding and 50% tweaking settings. Maybe 40/60. If the per seat license wasn't close to $5K, I think I'd want to use it at home. I'm re-learning the process, but I'm starting to remember why I like it so much. I think I'll create an additional stylesheet after the project for use with Monohedron Games. That is at least a month away, but I'll post updates here as to what I learn and think about the software (from a "use/don't use" perspective for Monohedron Games) as I go.
That's enough rambling for now.
Later!
