Second draft

Tim Russert must have been spinning like a drill bit in his grave

One of my morning must-reads is The New York Times' "First Draft," which is subtitled "What You Need to Know Today in Politics." It's a news/analysis roundup of what happened yesterday, what's scheduled for today, and what's down the road.

Today's headlines concerned the possibility of Lindsay Graham's endorsement affecting the Republican race, Marco Rubio's rivals calling him a passive campaigner, an analysis of congressional action/inaction in 2015, and-make sure you're seated for this one-the news that Chelsea Clinton and her husband are expecting a second child.

Christ on a crutch-this passes for political news?

I know two things about Ms. Clinton:

1. For three years, she had a job as an NBC News correspondent for which she was spectacularly underqualified-for one thing, she had the TV charisma of a turnip-and obscenely overpaid: (Obscene is the proper word)

2. She, like her mother, commanded ludicrous speaking fees:
($peeche$)

And now, the NYT tells me at the end of its political roundup today that this pampered princess of privilege is pregnant. I didn't read the story, of course-and I admit that in its own way, it's news. But as they say in the real estate business, location is everything, and she was in the wrong neighborhood.
