"I'm sure that I've just violated an article of my faith. Several of them, possibly. I'm just not sure which ones," McKenna said as he was pulled out of the lake. The giant squid had been feeling particularly frisky that morning, and the priest had the misfortune of standing by the shore at the wrong time. After a quick but thorough investigation, the squid had decided that since he lacked tentacles, a beak, and a mantle, McKenna just wasn't worth the time.

"I'd swing by the Hospital Wing if I was you, just in case," Grant said. He'd been at the COMC barn, observing the clothed mole rats when the priest had been snatched. One of the queens had died unexpectedly, and Grant had been monitoring the resulting dominance battles when he'd looked across the lake at just the right moment.

Bond, who'd been just swimming at the time, honestly, had put his Navy training to good use and had rescued McKenna from the water. "Did you go for the eyes?" he asked. It's what he would have done. Just like the last time he'd fought a giant squid.
