Christmas Morning

Follows this.

He woke up feeling a bit disorientated, vaguely remembering regaining consciousness some time during the night and after a few words from the doctor, falling into a restless sleep again. The pain was still there, but nowhere near as bad as it had been when he firs woke up last night. Grateful for small favors, Patrick allowed the nurse to help him sit up a little after she had checked him over. Not quite up to talking to her, he merely nodded at her questions and allowed her to wash him as he kept his eyes on the door, thinking it was probably around the time Brendan normally came in.

Not sure whether he should tell Brendan about what happened tonight, maybe he could shrug it off as a bad night and forget about it. Unless the doctor or the nurses decided otherwise of course, after all Brendan had told him he should listen to them this time. All he hoped was that he didn't look as worn out as he really felt right now, because if he did, Brendan would probably be asking questions. He sighed and leaned back against the pillow, closing his eyes again as the nurse left him alone for a moment.

It hadn't even occurred to him that it was now Christmas morning.
