Day 3 - no more Robert Church

Robbie's second visit finally had Patrick making the decision he'd been tossing around in his mind for the past few weeks. Brendan had left them alone for a few minutes to answer a call, and some - to Robbie - innocuous comments followed which had Patrick, mid-sentence, falling silent. There it was again, the sign that for some reason, Robbie thought he was allowed to take liberties with Patrick's private life. That normal, common rules of social conduct didn't apply to him. And perhaps they didn't, perhaps to Robert Church blatantly disregarding all the times Patrick had told him to back off a little was normal.

He sighed, knowing he'd done this before as well - to work for someone who only seemed to keep him around for entertainment purposes. And while there were major differences between how things had been with David, the end result was still the same. He was being mocked at every opportunity, the other party not caring about how he felt. The difference between David and Robbie, apart from the fact that Patrick was not - and had no intention to be - sleeping with Robbie, was that at least David admitted to not caring. Robbie's insistence on being his mate and caring about him was even more hurtful. Not able to blame anyone other than himself for allowing this man to be able to hurt him, Patrick knew it was time to leave and he voiced this decision.

There were some objections, some attempts at trying to persuade him to rethink his decision. But while he did hear the man's words, he simply wasn't listening anymore. He'd been foolish enough to overstay his welcome once, ending up in a place similar to this one when they had finally parted ways. It seemed fitting to end this now, while he was back where he'd started in a way. After all, this job had been a continuation of the road he'd been on all those years ago. A road that had only led him to prison.

Perhaps it was finally time to consider taking a different road.
