I'm hoping others will do this, too. ;)
Just for fun, I thought I'd look up the European towns my relatives came from on Wikipedia, and find out info about them, then post the links to the pages here, in case people are curious.
Personally, I'd love to see this stuff about all the places you all (and your relatives) came from. If you'd like to include your current hometown in the link list, that'd be cool, too (I think I'll do that).
Mom's side...
The French (Gascon):
Gascony <-- This is where the name came from, and where we lived way back, I don't actually know where my most "recent" French relatives came over from. Also, here's a link to
The Gascon Language, which, apparently, contained a bit of Spanish.
The Germans (Loeffler): Grandpa was from
Bavaria Where they moved to:
Rochester, New York (where Mom was born) //
Syracuse, New York (where Mom moved as soon as she could get out... lol)
Daddy's hometown:
Minot, North Dakota Where I was born, and still live:
Sacramento, California (the fact that our elevation is 25 feet will never cease to amuse me!)
Sorry to bore you all, I just love this crap. ;)
