Halloween, Steven Banks, and auditions... oh my!

Just wanted to drop in and say I'm still alive.
I think.

Halloween went really well. The tomb "set" we built turned out awesome, and my Indiana Jones jack-o-lantern got rave reviews as well (made the pattern myself, thankyouverymuch). I ended up dressing as a Renaissance-era woman, which really had nothing to do with the theme when you think about it, but it seemed to fit, nonetheless.

Next year, we're doing The Addams Family as our theme. Since it's usually my job to give out the candy, my logical choice of costume is Thing (as in, the disembodied hand they have as a pet of sorts). I'll wear all black, one of those black it-looks-like-I-have-no-face masks, and, if I can find it, a glove that looks like a real man's hand. As we say in theatre, "if it's black, you can't see it" - so, therefore, I'll just be a hand. ;)

Does anyone here remember the one-man-show by Steven Banks called "Home Entertainment Center," by any chance? It aired on Showtime in like, 1987 or so, and was never released commercially on VHS or DVD. Well, I found a guy (here's his site) who made me a copy on DVD for $10 (total, including shipping and everything). WOOT WOOT! So, I've watched that twice this week. If you ever get the chance to see that, I highly recommend it. Steven is an absolute genius, and I find his A.D.D. style randomness completely relate-able (by the way, these days, he writes for animated shows like Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius).

Random fact #2: Mom and I recently joined the Disney Movie Club (kind of like Columbia House - which doesn't exist anymore, by the way), because we're dorks, and our first shipment arrived on Halloween:

The Nightmare Before Christmas (which we had never seen)
Bambi
Cinderella
The Brave Little Toaster (a favorite from my childhood)
Brother Bear (Which we'd also never seen. How much do I LOVE the Canadian moose!? I said to mom "they sound like the McKenzie brothers from SCTV." Then I saw the credits, and found out there was a reason for that... ha ha).

Randomness continued: I've decided NOT to audition for Sweeney Todd this coming week. I didn't have time to prepare for it... at all. I haven't even gotten my headshots taken yet, and I can't find sheet music for my chosen audition song ANYWHERE, I think it just hasn't been published. If you know of anywhere selling sheet music from "Taboo," please let me know!
